Currently completing her JD degree at Mercer University School of Law, Andrea first joined Vivid IP as a legal intern during her 2L summer experience in 2018. Her focused productivity and ability to balance multiple, high-level responsibilities (she also serves as a law clerk for the Fulton County Superior Court) with enthusiasm and poise earned her a place on the Vivid IP team through her 3L year.

Andrea continues to learn all she can about IP law—and particularly the areas of work-for-hire, trademark opposition, and the right of publicity for non-humans (which she finds particularly fascinating)—while assisting our attorney team with research, drafting, presentations and other daily support tasks. With a much-anticipated graduation date set for May 2019, Andrea is committed to making the most of her time at Vivid IP and looks forward to applying this invaluable experience to a successful, impactful, future law career.

Meet Andrea

What makes Vivid IP unique?

“The way the firm handles client engagement and outreach stands out. One example: The team continually keeps up with the ITC [International Trade Commission] rulings, and then shares articles with clients that explain the rulings, the impacts, and what can be done to protect their respective IP as a result.”

Outside of practicing law, what are you most passionate about?

“I love learning. I actually completed two master’s degrees—one in business administration, and one in education— before finding my calling in law.”

When you’re not working (or studying), where are we mostly likely to find you?

“Spending time with my 9-year-old son. He plays on a traveling soccer league, and I used to coach his recreational league. He has games every weekend and I love watching his skills change and improve each week.”

What’s one piece of advice you’ll never forget?

“Have the ‘attitude of a champion!’ When I studied for the LSAT my Kaplan instructor would say this. It rings true in that, in the adversarial world of law, we’ll all experience both wins and losses. But you can have the attitude of a champion no matter the case, the challenges, or even the outcome.”
